Carol Black RDH, BS President MDHA What Is a Dental Hygienist?
Dental hygienists are licensed oral health professionals who focus on preventing and treating oral diseases both to protect teeth and gums, and also to protect patients' total health. They are graduates of accredited dental hygiene education programs in colleges and universities, and must take a written national board examination and a clinical examination before they are licensed to practice. In addition to treating patients directly, dental hygienists may also work as educators, researchers, and administrators. More here. ![]() ![]() |

ORAL HEALTH SUMMIT 2012
We were fortunate to have Dr. Cathy Grace as a guest speaker at the Oral Health Summit on April 13, 2012. She is the Director of Early Childhood Development Policy for the Children's Defense Fund in Washington, D.C. She provided some valuable ideas about building coalitions to promote oral health in our communities. She was gracious enough to share her PowerPoint presentation with us here on our website.
